Vinythai Production Process

Vinythai’s plant is an integrated facility, producing polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and caustic soda (NaOH) from domestic raw materials:
- purified salt from Pimai Salt Company Limited (PSC), located in Nakhon
  Ratchasima Province
- ethylene produced by PTT Chemical Public Company Limited (PTTCH)
- electricity and steam from Glow Energy Public Company Limited (Glow Group)
- water from the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT)
- oxygen from Bangkok Industrial Gas Company Limited

Production Units

The production process in Vinythai consists of five major steps:
- The production of chlorine (Cl2), caustic soda (NaOH) and H2 by the electrolysis of salt (NaCl)
- The production of ethylene dichloride (EDC) by direct chlorination of ethylene
- The production of ethylene dichloride (EDC) by the oxychlorination of ethylene
- The production of vinylchloride monomer (VCM) by thermal cracking of EDC
- The polymerization of VCM to produce polyvinyl chloride (PVC) by suspension (S-PVC) and emulsion (E-PVC) processes

In order to control, prevent and limit or reduce the impact of its operations on the environment, waste and by-product collection and treatment have been provided to achieve the highest quality and environmental standards in the company’s manufacturing process and other activities.
