Halar® ECTFE, Solef® and Hylar® PVDF show very good chemical resistance against hydrocarbons and the most common substances, like sulphuric, hydrochloric, hydrofluoric and nitric acids, or various inorganic salts and organic substances.
These fluoropolymers maintain their properties up to 150°C in continuous service temperatures.

Hyflon® PFA/MFA® show excellent chemical resistance over a wide range of temperatures (from cryogenic to +260°C) and pressures. They are not attacked by inorganic bases, strong mineral acids, inorganic oxidizing  agents commonly used in the Oil & Gas industry.

A typical characteristic of fluoropolymers is their very low permeability to liquids and gases when compared with standard non-fluorinated plastics. Halar® ECTFE generally shows the lowest permeation rate at temperatures up to 100°C. The fully fluorinated polymers Hyflon® PFA/MFA® demonstrate the best permeation resistance to water vapor.

Temperature rating is used as a guideline and end-use performance testing is carried out to verify the acceptability of the polymers for each specific application. ASTM and UL test methods are used to give general temperature ratings.
